Today's Abstract Thought - The Organist Entertains

"Nigel Ogden presents a programme of popular organ recordings including classics, and standards"
Don't get me wrong. I enjoy Radio 2 but I'm still trying to fathom the point of "The Organist Entertains." Who actually listens to "Go Tell It On The Mountain" played on an ancient Wurlitzer. Are there really organ enthusiasts out there who can get excited about such things. If there are please explain.

I've often wondered this myself Gwen. I've posted about it on my blog before (Clang! There I am mentioning my blog again, sorry!). The thing is; the show's been on for years! There can't be that many Wurlitzers left, can there? I've only seen one once, in a cinema in darkest Lincolnshire. And yes, it came from under the floor, they interrupted the film for it too. Bah!. It was an odd cinema anyway, they had coathooks along the wall.
Wait until 10.30pm and surround yourself in the excellent Mark Radcliffe instead.

The cinema in Lincolnshire sounds very strange - surreal almost. I used to listen to Mark Radcliffe and Lard on Radio 1 but haven't caught him that much on Radio 2. I will give him a try. I am also partial to Stuart Maconie on a Saturday. The Betamax challenge I can get almost all the questions right. I like 6 degrees... but never get more than one connection right. It's very hard but still I'm desparate to hear the correct answer at the end.

I got 6 degrees right the other week. But you have to name all the tracks and floundered on one but got the connection.

I am extremely impressed - you are one clever cookie. I have just discovered that if you log onto the Radio Two website and on to the link for the programme you can get the answers - To the previous week's of course!!!

Gwen, I don't normally 'big-up' myself, but I'm pretty hot on Ken Bruce's Popmaster quiz too. It isn't clever, it's just a case of being extremely anal about pop trivia.

Hope you got your plumbing probs sorted, by the way.

Again I'm impressed. This might call for a post on Redio competitions. Monday or Tuesday of next week I think though as we are one person down at work today and I am run off my feet. I'll think of a good competition post over the weekend.

Re plumbing - that's still ongoing - watch this space.

Personally, I like nothing better than a lovely big organ, all heated up and ready to go.

Thanks for your comment Edna. On reflection - I think I was asking for a comment like this:) - Do I know you? I feel like I might.
