Glasgow Airport

When terrorism comes to only a few miles from your door (and potentially even closer according to some news reports) it does tend to bring it home somewhat.

I have nothing particularly eloquent or intellectual to say on the subject of terrorism but there is nothing particularly eloquent or intellectual about smashing a burning car into an airport terminal full of families with young children going on holiday. The only blessing is that no-one was killed.

Can you imagine the utter panic and terror of the people inside the terminal? Can you imagine how you would explain the unfolding events to the children present? What sort of warped mind conceives and plans these atrocities?

We can only hope that Gordon Brown can succeed where Tony Blair has failed – to halt the cancerous spread of terror.

Absolutely. It's a damn disgrace that this is still happening. I've just made a comment on another blog that I feel no sympathy whatsoever for these animals who cause such distruction.

And it's proving nowhere is safe. It's not just London after all. It could be anywhere. I shan't let it beat me.

I knew a few people who were planning on leaving for holidays this weekend. I just hope they weren't there when it happened.

You and me both Crystal. It's just incomprehensible.

Scarily it certainly does prove that nowhere is safe Five Centres but as you and VS say we can't let it beat us or the terrorists have won.

I hope your friends were not there either Katie. I hope that they got away on their holiday.

It's just incomprehensible. I again live with fear every moment that DH is in London working.....

It certainly is Kelly and especially worrying for those who work in London and their families and friends.

NO less worrying that Glasgow- I mean they must be serious if theyare prepared to venture 'northh of the border'!! (Too early for that kind of joke?)u

To be honest Kelly they are very foolish to pick a fight with the Scots!!!

I think humour will have to come at some point or we will all go mad.

a comment raised on R4 this morning was that these bombers, as with the kamikaze pilots of WW2, believe that on their death they will go straight to their god. how can you deal or negotiate with people like this. having grown up with the IRA, is anything new, just a rewind of fanatical beliefs. Keep vigilant & carry on as normal. Any change to our life styles means we have lost the fight.

My understanding is that not only do the bombers believe, or are lead to believe, that they will go to the god but that they will be tended by numerous virgin maidens to administer to their every wish.

Pity they don't value women in this world, eh?

Muddy Boots - You are absolutely right - it is impossible to negotiate with people like that. It seems sad that as soon as we resolve (hopefully) the Irish issue, a new brand of terrorism makes itself felt.

Boy are they going to be disappointed Debio.

Well said Gwen. I'm going to two concerts in London this month and I'm such a big baby about these things, I'm not even sure if I'll actually go. I won't know for sure until I'm actually on the train!! We had planned to take our little girl to London Zoo and the Aquarium too, but I definitely won't risk taking her into London.

Thank you for your comments on my blogs by the way. My husband did have another job in the pipeline as an agency called him yesterday but when he called today for a progress report, he was told the job has gone! Oh well, back to the drawing board I guess!

Hi Funky Munky. It's a shame that these idiots can spoil your plans but I can understand your concerns.

Best of luck to your husband in his jobsearch,. I know how dispiriting it can be.
